Short profile:

The HNB Garhwal University was established in December 1973 by the then Uttar Pradesh Government with its headquarter at Srinagar, District Garhwal Northern Himalayas. It has two other teaching campuses one at Pauri, other at Tehri and one extension of Srinagar at chauras Campus. It is residential cum affiliating University with more than one hundred and eighty affiliated colleges through out Garhwal region spreading over an area of thirty thousand Sq. kms. At present there are forty three academic departments governed by nine faculties in the University Campuses including the Department of Business Management . In so far as the size is concerned the University is among top ten large Universities in India.

Detailed description:

The University provides the most ideal conditions for serious study with the surrounding area abounding in natural grandeur with river Alakananda flowing with its sylvan beauty and green forest accompanied by snow clad peaks invisible range offering a clean and fresh air water, besides a salubrious peaceful environment, all requisites for both learning and Tapasya. With the efforts of its dedicated team of management joining together with academics has not only, developed the University as a center of excellence in learning, but also made it a viable Institution. Encouraged by the faith and response, the University received from the public , the Government Authorities and the Corporate world, apart from traditional graduate and post graduate courses, the University is now running successfully the professional Degree courses like MBA, MBA (Tourism), MCA, B. Tech, B. Pharma and Bachelor's Degree Course in Hotel Management. The University has been declared as a Central University with effect from January 15, 2009.
